Als vrouw val je op, of je dat nu wilt of niet. Niet omdat het onveilig is, integendeel \u2013 maar omdat je zichtbaar bent. Je stem, je houding, je manier van vragen stellen. Ik moest leren dat ik geen rol hoefde te spelen. Geen hardere versie van mezelf, geen zachtere ook. Gewoon: inhoudelijk sterk, nieuwsgierig, en met respect voor ervaring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Autoriteit bleek niet te zitten in volume, maar in luisteren. In durven zeggen: \u201cDit weet ik nog niet.\u201d En in erkennen dat vakmanschap vele vormen kent. Soms draagt het een simpele spijkerbroek, soms een overall met vlekken en chemisch geur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En ja, soms dacht ik: wat doe ik hier eigenlijk, tussen staal, hitte en mannen met 20 jaar diensttijd?<\/em>
Totdat een operator tegen me zei: \u201cFijn dat jij het uitzoekt. Jij legt uit waarom hij doet wat hij doet.\u201d
Toen wist ik: dit is mijn plek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
